Since I would never again share the love, laughter and happiness we had in each other…

…pasta and a bottle of wine, cookie dough ice cream, takeout sushi…

I ate like a bird because I just didn’t think I deserved any better.

I joked that the gym was my “second home” because I spent so much time there…

I even got a job there as a personal trainer.

It’s where I would hide from the pain I knew would hit me as soon as I was alone again.

It was easy to tell myself it was “normal”
to treat myself like that

Afterall, thousands of women around the world are doing the exact same thing right this minute…

Hi, my name is Kyla Gagnon…

And for over 10 years now, I’ve been lucky enough to help thousands of women to shed their old, destructive workout and diet habits.

I had to hit rock bottom before I could help anyone else.

How growing up I would be spellbound by my mom’s stories of travelling the world before starting a family.

She was a free soul when she was young and loved to explore the world.

Looking back I think I just wanted to feel close to my mom in some way…

Or that she was there guiding me in a time of need…

Because it was so clear what I needed to do.






I pulled out my laptop there and then…

Emptied the last dregs of my bank account…

And booked a flight to Indonesia.

It was scary. But so exciting…

And although my friends and family thought I was crazy…

A woman traveling on my own to such a faraway place.

What I ended up learning there…

The shocking series of ancient movements I stumbled on deep in the Balinese jungle…

Was like a soothing balm for my exhausted body…

Healing it from the abuse and beatings I’d been putting it through.

These gentle movements I’ll be sharing in just a minute…

Have been a closely guarded secret in the remote communities of the far east for centuries…

But never made their way to the USA…

At least not the way I’ll be revealing today.

First I need to share the amazing story of how I stumbled on these powerful healing and slimming movements.

I finally landed in Indonesia in May 2009.

The airport doors slid open…

And I stood there bathing in the chaos, the warmth, and the rich smells swirling around me.

I had no timeline. No destination.

I just explored.

I meditated and sat with my thoughts…

And eventually found myself in a little clearing…

Deep in the jungle beside a waterfall that plunged into a crystal clear basin.

I was sure I was alone…

Yet as the sun filtered through the trees and sparkled on the water…

I noticed a man on the other side of the basin.

As weird as it sounds… I can only describe him as otherworldly.

I could feel his presence from across the water…

And it’s like I fell into a trance just watching the way he majestically flowed in and out of these strange movements.







It looked a bit like yoga.…




But at the same time so much MORE than the yoga I’d done in fitness classes.

Watching him took my breath away.

His movement was so graceful that I felt like I’d never seen anything like it before.

The next day I hiked back to the same spot, hoping to see him again.

And there he was… for 5 days straight I’d return and just watch…

On the 5th day suddenly he lifted his gaze and his eyes locked onto mine.

Sheepishly but with determination in my soul…

I waded across the basin to where he was starting up his routine.

I asked if I could follow along for a while…

And learn what he was doing.

He said I could…

But that it would be more challenging than it looked.


I told him I’d be fine…

That I was a fitness professional.

He just gave me a nod and a knowing smile…

Like he was in on a joke that went right over my head…

And waved me to a spot beside him so we could begin.

I didn’t know it at the time, but this was the beginning of a life-transforming journey…

Week after week I soaked in everything he could teach me…

And he sure was right about how challenging it would be…

Not because the movements are difficult…

But because I had no idea what NATURAL movement even felt like.

Every time I tried to use my “fitness”…

To strong-arm my way through the movements…

He would gently correct me and guide me back to the proper form…

Using the natural, healing way my body WANTED to move…

Instead of the forced, stressful way I had been taught to move.

I had to unlearn the destructive habits learned over the course of decades in the “fitness” industry.

But the part I really thought was super weird…

Was all the squishy “trouble spots” I always wished I could get rid of…

The “pooch” I carried around for years no matter how many sit ups I did…

The flab on the back of my arms that never went away despite all the pushups…

The dimpled skin on my thighs that I wanted desperately to be rid of…

They all just melted away as the weeks went by.

Which I thought was amazing and a bit hard to believe…

Because I wasn’t doing anything that I would call a “workout”…

And I was stuffing myself with satay, sticky rice cakes, banana fritters and all the other delicious Balinese foods I could find.

After a few weeks of meeting with my new mentor every day at our little clearing by the waterfall…

He asked me to join him for tea in the village nearby.

I was so excited…

Because I wanted to learn everything about this mysterious fellow…

And the amazing movements he was teaching me.



He told me he was born in India…

But moved to the States to do a PhD in molecular biology.

At first he wanted to be a doctor…

But although he loves helping people, he always enjoyed solitude…

And couldn’t handle the hustle and bustle of the medical profession.

He asked me about my training and my work as a fitness trainer.

I explained the grueling hours I’d spend in the gym…

And the spartan diets I’d been subjecting myself to.

His face crumpled and he lost some of the spark in his eyes.

“See, that’s why I left America”… he told me sadly…

“Everything and everyone around me was”…

“Go faster”…

“Push harder”…

“Work more”…

“It’s killing people from the inside out and they don’t even know it”…

“So I escaped to my little jungle paradise here”…

I asked him “…you mean it’s killing their spirit?”



But he switched into full scientist mode and explained it was more than that.

He told me that people in Westernised society
are in a constant state of stress…

And when the body is exposed to so many layers of stress…


It gets flooded with something called free radicals which most folks have heard of.

But what happens next is where the nightmare starts…

Too many free radicals will “oxidize” molecules deep in our cells.

Think of it like rust forming on a piece of metal…

Rust comes from metal being exposed to oxygen…

That’s oxidation… and when it happens in the body it damages the cells…

Filling them with toxic gunk.

My mentor said a lot of biologists are calling this
Dirty Metabolism…

Because it takes the normal process of breathing, eating and creating energy…

And turns it into a toxic whirlwind that forces the body to attack itself…

Creating damaged and dirty cells.

It’s one of the reasons I couldn’t lose my most stubborn pockets of fat…

Because the body goes into panic mode…

And it clings to those pockets like life-rafts in a raging storm.

It’s also why some women start to get wrinkles before their time…

Can’t smooth out layers of dimpled skin…

Or feel like they’re groping through a haze of thick brain fog day after day.


Every cell in the body gets gunked up and
damaged by a Dirty Metabolism

And the stress-induced free radicals attack so deep that they can even damage our DNA.

By now I was getting pretty scared.

Was it too late?

Had I already destroyed my metabolism and damaged my health beyond repair?

So I asked him…

But he told me not to worry…

That the human body is a very resilient creation…

And that the specific movements we did together were designed to reverse oxidative stress…

And they were already working to fully restore my health and heal my Dirty Metabolism.

“That’s why you’ve seen so many positive changes in your body over the past few weeks” he told me.

I looked up at him… surprised…

He smiled… “What? You didn’t think I noticed?”

“It’s impossible to miss how much your body has slimmed down and toned up”…

He told me that when the body is under oxidative stress…

It becomes its own worst enemy.

Instead of breaking down sugars and breaking down fat…

It actually goes into emergency fat storage mode…

It’s a protective mechanism built into our bodies millions of years ago…

I tried harder and kept pushing my students to learn the movements…

Until before I knew it…

My yoga class was empty…

And the owner of the studio said she had to let me go.

It was so painful…

Because I wanted so badly to help these women…

To share the incredible gift I had received.

I can tell you it was touch and go with me for a while after that…

And I knew I had a choice to make.

I could let myself slip back into the depression and self-doubt…

I could ignore my passion to help other women to see and feel what I’d discovered…

To help them finally let go of the lies and fitness myths that were holding them down…

And keeping them from the slim, healthy figures they deserved.

But I was a different person after my time in the jungle…

And I made the better choice.

The choice to dive deeply back into my practice of the movements my mentor had gifted me…

To understand them so well that I could figure out exactly why my teaching had been such an epic failure.

After months of practice and meditation and self-examination it finally hit me…

That my teaching wasn’t really the problem…

And that the problem was actually the way my mentor taught me.
